From special Santa visits, to gingerbread making, twilight markets and everything in between, we have the lowdown on how to 'sleigh' this silly season in Greenbank.
Family Santa experience
Take the whole family to Santa’s Cottage at Orion Springfield Central for an experience unlike any other.
Kids can share their wish list with the big man, Santa might read a story, or even one-up dad in the joke stakes.
All the magic will be photographed, with bookings running right up until Christmas Eve. There are special timeslots for families with sensory needs, or for those who want a furry family member to join the fun.
Visit https://www.orionspringfieldcentral.com.au/whats-on/events/santa-photos for more info.
Virtual Santa letter
If you can’t make it to see Santa in person, there are some internet elves ready to help you get in touch virtually.
Visit Dear Santa... to share your Christmas pictures, artwork, or even a photo of a handwritten letter with Santa.
We hear the man in red is really good at sending replies!
Summer Reading Club
Logan City Council Libraries is hosting its annual Summer Reading Club, with local kids encouraged to dive into lands of myths, legends and fairy tales (via books of course)!
The Club is aimed at keeping children reading over summer break and includes free activity packs with materials to create masks, pencil toppers and bookmarks. Collect yours from Greenbank Library and get reading.
Gingerbread decorating workshops
Enriching Communities Greenbank is hosting a special gingerbread decorating workshop sponsored by Everleigh on Tuesday December 15.
Children aged five and up can join Jenna from Treat Yourself in building a gingerbread house with all the trimmings, while parents enjoy some tea and coffee.
There will be two sessions at Pub Lane Tavern and bookings are essential. Reserve your seat here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/enriching-communities-greenbank-17716856907
Dive-in movie
Splash into summer with a dive-in movie at Orion lagoon on Saturday night December 19. The free event runs from 7pm to 9pm, with local families enjoying a film on the big screen.
Stay tuned to https://www.orionspringfieldcentral.com.au/whats-on/events/dive-in-movie-december for more details as the movie title is announced.
Twilight markets
Main Street at Orion Springfield Central will provide the perfect backdrop for a spot of Christmas shopping this month, with two days of market stalls and food trucks planned.
The monthly markets are on Sunday December 20 from 9am to 4pm, with local crafts, food and potential gifts on offer.
While a special Christmas twilight market is on Wednesday December 23, running from 9am all the way until midnight, meaning you have plenty of time to cross off your Christmas list.
Christmas Kindness
The most important activity to get involved in this silly season is the gift of giving.
Logan City Council have done the hard work by putting together all the local charities who provide food and emergency relief to locals less fortunate this Christmas season.
COVID-19 means there is greater demand on services in a year where there’s been less opportunity for fundraising, so we’re being asked to please support our local charities where possible.
Visit the council website for a full list of organisations you might be able to support or help out in some way: https://www.logan.qld.gov.au/christmaskindness
The teams here at Everleigh and Enriching Communities Greenbank are also working on a fun lineup of activities in January to keep the kids entertained until school starts again on the 27th. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for information on all upcoming events.
